Garbageboy is an ever-evolving project that started as a doodle on a tablecloth in 2013. He is a character that is close to me which may be why I've struggled to find the perfect home for him, ranging from picture books and short-form animation to his current format, a playable game.
Anchored by a strong visual style and a setting ripe for game design, my friends and I set out to create a puzzle/platformer in 2017. We created a small, playable demo which, having never made a game, was an enormous success for us. But eventually we realized the scope and quality of what we wished to do was too ambitious for a first game. We decided to shelf the project in hopes of returning to it after gaining more insight and experience with indie game creation.
